EMC's first official order of business was to raise funds to provide protestors with needed supplies during the June 2020 protests.
Community Survey
In the Summer of 2020, EMC launched a community survey asking what types of changes community members would like to see in the city.
Survey Results
In September of 2020, EMC shared survey results with the City of Concord. Shortly after, in December of 2020, the city launched a new City of Concord Engagement Hub for outreach and listening efforts in the community!
Transgender Day of Remembrance
In November of 2020, EMC proposed proclamations to all municipalities in Cabarrus County to observe Transgender Day of Remembrance. Concord and Harrisburg both signed proclamations for the first time in history acknowledging and honoring the transgender community!
Non-Discrimination Ordinance
In January of 2021, EMC proposed non-discrimination ordinances to all the municipalities in Cabarrus County. Harrisburg was the only one to respond and even invite our President/CEO Mary Perez to speak before the Town Council, despite opposition. EMC is following state leaders in the continued pursuit of equality.
Concord Pride Presents Drag
As the first official act of our Concord Pride Committee, in June of 2021, we sponsored a Drag Show presented by TuxedoKat Imaginarium. The show was very well attended and a great way to kick off the Concord Pride presence!
Diversity at Pools
